In 2006, for the first time, the mayor of Austin announced October to be a month of Polish culture in Austin. In several months, October 2015 will mark the tenth time Polish cinema and poster art will capture and delight our city’s audiences.
The Austin Polish Film Festival will showcase and celebrate the best, the most riveting cinematic and graphic works, nowhere else to be seen in Central Texas.
This year’s five nominations for Polish filmmakers: an Oscar winner for Best Foreign Film, “Ida,” and a Silver Bear at Berlinale 2015 for “Body”, only confirm the quality of Polish cinema.
Our programs have reflected diverse styles and subjects of Poland’s feature, short, animated, and documentary films.
The Austin Polish Film Festival 2015 will bring all that and more: for the first time we are announcing the APFF International Short Film Competition inviting students and independent filmmakers. Check out details here: www.austinpolishfilm.com/submit
