The 20th annual Austin Polish Film Festival (APFF) opens with a celebratory Gala Reception and Screening on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 2:30 PM at Galaxy Theatre, 6700 Middle Fiskville Rd. The event features the U.S. premiere of “Chopin. Chopin,” a captivating new film exploring the life and genius of Poland’s legendary composer, Fryderyk Chopin

Guests will enjoy a buffet of exquisite Polish cuisine catered by the renowned Apolonia Catering. Tickets for the gala are $50 and available for purchase on the festival website.

From November 6 to 9, the festival continues at the Austin Film Society Cinema, presenting a rich selection of Polish films — from comedies and dramas to thrillers and historical narratives. Festival highlights include:

  • “Franz” by acclaimed director Agnieszka Holland, Poland’s official submission for the 2025 Academy Awards, depicting the life of Franz Kafka. The festival will host a Q&A session with Idan Weiss, the actor portraying Kafka.

  • A retrospective honoring filmmaker Wojciech Jerzy Has, featuring screenings of “The Saragossa Manuscript” and the documentary “Identification Marks: Found After Years”. This tribute includes an exhibition of original film posters on loan from the Museum of Cinematography in Łódź, Poland

On Saturday, November 15, APFF presents a special family program at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church (North Building Classroom, 3525 Bee Caves Rd, Austin), showcasing films for children and young audiences
